Roadmap

What we are planning to build. This roadmap is a rough guide, not a contract. Priorities may change based on feedback and available time.

Shipped

• 25 subtitle tools (SRT, VTT, plain text, JSON).
• Homepage with searchable directory.
• Category pages, guides, blog, stories, format references.
• Support, company and legal infrastructure.
• Sitemap, robots.txt, structured data.

In progress

• Tutorial videos for common tasks (see tutorial videos).
• Additional translations (community-driven).
• Documentation improvements.

Planned

• ASS/SSA conversion — convert ASS and SSA to SRT and VTT. Complex because ASS has rich styling; will lose styling on conversion but preserve dialogue and timings.
• Subtitle diff — compare two subtitle files and show differences.
• Batch processing — apply a transform to multiple files at once.
• Line-length auto-split — automatically split overlong cues into two cues at a natural pause.
• Reading-speed checker — per-cue CPS analysis (currently only available via the Duration Report + Word Counter).
• SBV conversion — SubViewer format support for legacy workflows.
• PWA installability — install as a desktop app.
• Offline caching — service worker for full offline use.

Under consideration

• Time-zone / clock conversion — for subtitle files from live broadcasts.
• Speaker diarisation — identify distinct speakers from audio. Would require a backend or client-side ML model; likely impractical.
• Automatic translation — would require a backend API, conflicting with our privacy principles. Not planned.
• ASR transcription — same constraint as translation. Not planned.
