Accessibility statement
Subtitle Convert is designed to be accessible to as many people as possible. As a subtitle tool, accessibility is part of our core mission, not an afterthought.
Our commitment
We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across the site. This includes the tool pages, the guides, the blog and the legal pages.
What we do
- Semantic HTML. Every page uses proper headings, landmark elements and section structure.
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements are reachable and operable with a keyboard.
- Focus indicators. Visible focus states on all interactive elements.
- Colour contrast. Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Screen reader support. Form fields, buttons and results are labelled and announced properly.
- Reduced motion. Animations are disabled for users who prefer reduced motion.
- Responsive layout. Works on screens from 320px wide upward.
- No hover-only functionality. Hover effects never gate essential functionality.
Known limitations
We are not aware of any critical accessibility issues, but a few areas are worth noting:
- Some tools do not yet have full screen reader announcements for very large result sets.
- Code blocks in guides require horizontal scrolling on narrow screens.
- Subtitle text areas use monospace fonts that may be less comfortable for users with certain visual impairments. The site's own UI text is in a sans-serif system stack.
Testing
We test with:
- Keyboard-only navigation.
- Screen readers (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS).
- Browser zoom up to 200%.
- High-contrast mode.
- Reduced-motion preference.
Automated checks (axe, Lighthouse) are run regularly but are not a substitute for manual testing.
Reporting accessibility issues
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site, please report it through the bug report page. Include the URL, the assistive technology you were using, and what you were trying to do.
