Editorial policy
This policy describes how content on Subtitle Convert is researched, written, reviewed and updated.
Content scope
The site publishes:
- Tool documentation — instructions, limitations and use cases for each tool.
- Guides — step-by-step tutorials for subtitle tasks.
- Blog articles — explanatory and historical content about subtitles.
- Stories — long-form narrative pieces about the craft of subtitling.
- Format references — technical documentation for subtitle formats.
- Resources — glossary, comparisons and lists.
How we research
- We use primary sources where possible: format specifications, regulatory texts, industry style guides.
- We test tools with representative subtitle files before publishing.
- We do not fabricate facts, quotes, statistics or case studies.
- We do not use testimonials, ratings, awards or customer logos we do not have.
How we write
- Plain language.
- Direct structure: what the tool does, how to use it, limitations.
- No exaggerated claims, no marketing language, no superlatives.
- No emoji as interface icons.
- Examples use realistic subtitle content, not invented ones.
Review process
- Every tool page is tested manually before launch.
- Content is reviewed for accuracy against the tool's actual behaviour.
- Known limitations are documented on every tool page.
- Guides are reviewed for technical accuracy by at least one other person.
Updates
- Content is updated when tools change, standards change or errors are found.
- The "Last updated" date at the top of each page reflects the most recent review.
- Substantial changes are noted in the changelog.
Corrections
If you find an error, please report it. We correct errors promptly and update the "Last updated" date.
Advertising and editorial independence
Advertising does not influence editorial content. Sponsored content (if any) is clearly labelled. We do not accept payment for positive reviews.
Authorship
Content is written by the Subtitle Convert team. Where content is contributed by others, it is credited on the page or on the contributors page.
