Translate the site
Subtitle Convert is currently available in English only. We would like to add more languages, and we would like the translations to be done by speakers of those languages — not machine translation.
What to translate
In order of importance:
- Tool interfaces — buttons, labels, placeholders, status messages on the 25 tool pages.
- Tool instructions — the "How to use" sections on each tool page.
- Homepage — hero text, privacy explanation, FAQ, use cases.
- Support pages — FAQ, getting started, help center.
- Guides and blog — long-form content. These are the largest effort; only start if you can commit to complete articles.
What not to translate
- Legal pages — privacy policy, terms of use. These must be legally reviewed in each language, which is out of scope for community translation.
- Code comments — stay in English.
- Format names — SRT, WebVTT, JSON should not be translated.
- Technical terms — "cue", "timestamp", "cue identifier" — many languages have established terms; use those rather than inventing new ones.
How to contribute
- Email
translate@subtitle-convert.pages.devwith the language you want to work on. - We will send you a copy of the English strings for the tool pages.
- You return the translated strings in the same structure.
- We integrate, review and deploy.
- You are credited on the contributors page and in the site footer for your language.
Quality expectations
- Native or professional fluency.
- Consistent terminology across the site.
- Short, clear UI strings — not expanded translations.
- Review before submission. Translation errors are worse than untranslated pages.
