Why we built this
Working with subtitle files should not require uploading them to an unknown website, signing up for an account or trusting a third party to do the right thing. Most subtitle tasks are simple text manipulations — converting a format, shifting timings, counting words. They do not need a server.
Subtitle Convert exists to give subtitle creators, translators, students and web developers a set of free, fast, private tools that do one thing well.
What we stand for
- Privacy by design. All processing happens in the browser. No file contents are transmitted anywhere.
- No accounts. No sign-up, no email, no password to manage.
- No tracking of subtitle content. We do not log what you paste or upload.
- Free forever. Subtitle Convert is supported by advertising and the tools remain free.
- Open, standard formats. We work with SRT, WebVTT, plain text and JSON — no proprietary formats.

Technical approach
Subtitle Convert is a static site built with HTML5, CSS3 and vanilla JavaScript. No framework, no build step, no backend. This keeps the site fast, small and easy to audit.
Every tool uses the same subtitle parsing engine, which is written to preserve text and timings accurately across the common variants of SRT and WebVTT.
