Frequently asked questions
Are the tools really free?
Yes. All 25 subtitle tools are free with no usage limits and no sign-up. Subtitle Convert is supported by advertising and the tools themselves will always remain free.
Do you store my subtitle files?
No. Files are read by your browser and processed entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server. See the privacy policy for the small amount of metadata the hosting provider logs.
What subtitle formats are supported?
SRT (SubRip) and WebVTT are the primary formats. Plain text and JSON are also supported for text and data workflows. See the format guide for details.
Will converting change my subtitle content?
Format converters preserve text and timings. Only the file structure (header, timestamp separator, cue numbering) is rewritten. The words themselves never change.
Do these tools work on mobile?
Yes. Every tool is tested from 320px upward. File input, text input, download and copy all work in Android Chrome and iOS Safari.
Can I use these tools commercially?
Yes. The output of these tools can be used in personal, educational or commercial subtitle projects. You may not resell the tools themselves. See the Terms of Use.
Do the tools work offline?
Once the page loads, tools continue to work even if the network disconnects. No data is sent anywhere during processing.
Can I link to specific tools?
Yes. All tools have permanent URLs (e.g. /tools/srt-to-vtt.html). These URLs are stable.
Do you accept feature requests?
Yes. Use the request a tool or request a feature pages.
What if a file fails to process?
Report it on the bug report page. Include a short description of what the file contains and what you expected to happen. Do not paste the full subtitle content — a description is enough.
