How it works

Typical reading-speed guidance
- Netflix recommends 12 characters per second for pre-lingual deaf subtitles, up to 20 CPS for adults generally.
- BBC guidelines suggest similar reading rates around 160–180 words per minute.
- Children's content targets slower rates.
