How to convert SRT to WebVTT

  1. Paste SRT content or click Load .srt to read a SubRip file from your device.
  2. Click Convert to VTT.
  3. Download or copy the WebVTT file.

What changes during conversion

  • A WEBVTT header is added at the top of the file.
  • Timestamp millisecond separators change from comma to period: 00:00:05,000 becomes 00:00:05.000.
  • Cue numbers are preserved as optional WebVTT cue identifiers.
  • Dialogue text and line breaks are preserved exactly.

Supported input formats

Standard SubRip (.srt) files. Period-separated milliseconds and missing cue numbers are tolerated. WebVTT input should use the VTT to SRT tool instead.

Limitations

  • This is a structural conversion — not a full WebVTT compliance rewrite.
  • WebVTT-specific features (positioning, styling blocks, regions) are not added.
  • SRT formatting tags such as <i>, <b>, <font> are passed through. WebVTT supports <i> and <b> but not <font>.
  • SRT position markers (e.g. {\an8}) are preserved as-is and will not be honoured by WebVTT players.
